Adult Ministries
Sunday School
Out Adult Sunday school program meets at 9:45 a.m. each Sunday morning and includes classes for adults of all age levels. This is an important place of connection and spiritual growth of Calvary. See the Adult Classes page for complete descriptions and room assignments.
Pastor’s Class--Pastor’s Class is a short-term session for people new to Calvary. It’s a good introduction to the life of the church and the ministry of Jesus Christ. The class includes basic Bible, basic Christianity, basic Methodism, basic Calvary and basic faith journey. A great time to meet other people at Calvary!
Calvary Women
Calvary’s United Methodist Women (UMW) group meetings, special programs, and projects offer all women opportunities to gather for Christian study and fellowship and support of local and worldwide missions. Childcare is provided for meetings held at the church. Currently, three groups (circles) meet monthly: Dinner and a Mission, Dorcas, and Vision.
Special UMW sponsored events include:
January Saturday study retreat
Spring Service event for women and children
August Dessert fellowship
November Arts and Crafts Market for global missions
You are invited to visit any of these groups or special events; church membership is not essential. Please let the church office know if you are interested in knowing more about Calvary’s United Methodist Women.
Calvary Men
Men’s basketball meets Sunday evenings at 8:00 p.m. (nothing formal, just for fun).
Three men’s study and support groups (Wesleyan Building Brothers) meet weekly:
- Tuesday evenings at 6:00 p.m.
- Thursday evenings at 6:00 p.m.
- Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m.
Family and Fellowship
At various times throughout the year, groups of all ages join together for special times of fellowship and sharing. These opportunities include all-church fellowship dinners, all-church picnics, and “Calvary by the Sea” (a worship service/fellowship time at Lake Cheney). These events are designed to bring individuals and families together as a “church family” to share in the breaking of bread and entering into the lives of one another.
Retired Fellowship
Meets the first Thursday of each month at noon for programs and a covered dish luncheon in Fellowship All seniors are welcome. Call Helen and Bill Manning for more information.
