Children's Ministries
Sunday School
Our Children’s Sunday School program is held at 9:45 a.m. every Sunday and includes classes for children who are one year old (as of September 1) through children in Fifth Grade. It is a time for them to come together to study the Bible through stories, songs, games, and crafts.
Children in kindergarten through fifth grades participate in “the Fishing Hole,” from the scripture in Matthew: “And He said to them, ‘follow me, and I will make you fish for people.’” These children experience one story for five weeks, and learn about it in five different ways. The stations include Computer and Video, Cooking, Games, Music, Science, and Storytelling, visiting a different station each week.
Children and Worship
Your child is welcome here at Calvary. You may want to keep your child with you during worship, or you may want to take advantage of these programs located in the north Education Wing:
Infant Nursery Toddlers (18 months to 3 years)
Walking Babies 3-4 year-olds Nursery
All areas are adult supervised and appropriate activities are provided for each age group. Adult and youth nursery volunteers are needed every Sunday. Call the church office (683-3913) to help out.
Tot’s Day In
Tot’s Day In (TDI) is a non-profit program designed to provide a relaxed, safe, and happy atmosphere for children to play while parents/caregivers are away. TDI runs Fridays 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., August through May. We have classrooms for children nine months (as of September 1) through five years old. Children enjoy planned activities, play, and music, and they bring their own lunch. Weekly fee is $11.00 for the first child and $9.00 for a sibling from the same family.
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School is a vibrant learning program, held each summer for children ages four years through Fifth Grade. Youth and adult helpers involve over 100 people in this challenging and fun adventure. Call the church office (683-3913) for schedule and registration information.
Children’s Choirs
There are two children’s choirs for those four years old (as of September 1) through Fifth Grade. Cherubs (Pre-Kindergarten through First Grade), and Back to B.A.S.I.C.S. (Second through Fifth Grade) practice each Wednesday.
Scouting Programs
Calvary United Methodist Church is the chartered sponsor for Boy Scout Troop #662 (since June 1, 1936). The troop provides fellowship and scouting skills for boys from 11 to 18 years of age. The troop meets on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. in the Calvary Life Center. They also perform service projects for the church and the community.
Calvary also sponsors Cub Scout Pack #662. Individual Cub Scout Dens meet at their own discretion. The Pack meetings are generally held on the fourth Tuesday of each month.
Our church also provides facilities for Girl Scout programs, including several troops that meet in our church.
